Simplo

Prove who signed — without the scanner kiosk.

Venue ID scanners read barcodes into shared databases and have the lawsuits to show for it. Simplo verifies the document and the face holding it, binds the verdict to the waiver, and keeps zero biometrics.

The complaints, answered

What venues run into with ID scanners — and our answer

“ID scanners put my venue in a biometric-privacy lawsuit.”

Patronscan faced an Illinois BIPA class action over storing tens of thousands of flagged patrons' data without consent, and press coverage of its 'secret ban database' keeps spreading. Simplo stores no biometrics at all — the verification provider (Stripe Identity) processes the ID photo and selfie, and your venue keeps only the verdict: verified or not, adult or not, document type, last four. There is no shared database between venues.

“The scanner hardware costs thousands.”

Dedicated ID-scanner kiosks are four-figure purchases before the subscription starts. Simplo's verification runs on the guest's own phone during online booking, or on the same tablet your waiver kiosk already uses. Zero extra hardware.

“A fake ID with a real barcode walks right through.”

Barcode-only scanners read what the barcode says. Simplo's checks photograph the physical document, verify its security features, and match it to a live selfie with liveness detection — a borrowed or forged card fails the face match.

“Per-scan pricing gets expensive at the door.”

True — at hundreds of scans a month, flat-rate scanners win on raw price. That's why Simplo verification is aimed where it matters legally: binding a verified identity to the signed waiver (once per guest, cached for their return visits), not carding every walk-in.
